Focusing on Human Resources Challenges in Rural Areas STLC

Published Curated on February 11, 2014

The documents in this collection address one of the most common issues faced in rural schools: accumulating and mobilizing human resources to meet student needs. The first two resources in this series provide strategies for recruiting teachers to work in these remote, hard-to-staff areas. The third piece describes steps schools and districts can take to prepare teachers for the unique challenges of teaching in rural schools. The final two documents address ways that rural schools can engage other community stakeholders, including parents and families, to further support their school turnaround efforts. Additional content is being developed to address the issues faced by rural schools, and those resources will be added soon.
